Tidbits From Pinewoods Health and Racquet Club
Junior Tennis Clinics
Pinewoods Health and Racquet Club in Torrington has a new session of Junior tennis clinics beginning the week of Jan. 7.
Classes will meet for 10 weeks through the week of March 11 and are separated by level and age. Classes are available for children aged 4 to 18. Balls and racquets (if needed) are provided.

Local Men Win Tennis Titles
Local tennis teaching professionals Doug Madeux and Bob Cofer won their respective divisions in a recent tennis tournament held at Pinewoods Health and Racquet Club.
Madeux, from Harwinton, won the Men's Open Singles Division with three victories on the way to the championship. In the quarterfinals he beat Wallingford's Adam Sinkala, 6-4, 6-1, and then went on to defeat West Hartford's Dan Couzens in a nail biter, 2-6, 6-3, 7-6, in the semifinals, and John Holschlag from Bristol in the finals, 6-4, 6-4.
Cofer, Pinewoods 0wner, won the 4.5 Men's Singles Division with wins over Norwalk's Raphael Hurwitz, 6-0, 6-2 in the semifinals, and William Schneider from Hopkinton, N.H. in the finals, 6-2, 6-0.
