Torrington volleyball squad sweeps Wilby to even record. By John Nestor.

TORRINGTON - The Torrington High School girls volleyball team had little trouble recording their second victory of the season Thursday afternoon with a convincing 3-0 sweep of Wilby at Torrington High,

The Lady Raiders improved to 2-2 on the season with the win while Wilby continues its early-season struggles and dropped to 0-3.

Torrington took the first game 25-12 and asserted control of the match by winning game two 25-8. The Lady Raiders then completed the sweep by winning game three 25-12.

Stephanie Synott paced Torrington with 14 assists to go along with four kills and a pair of aces. Other solid contributors for the Lady Raiders included Kiley Rosengrant with eight assists and six aces and Nicole Kozlak who chipped in with seven kills and an ace. Jenna Gyuricsko and Courtney Magruder each had four kills to go along with two aces for Torrington.

The Wildcats were paced by Jalissa Medina with two aces and five digs while Thalia Ortiz added a kill, one dig and five service points.

Torrington looks for its third win of the season Friday at Naugatuck.
