Tyler Erickson pitched perhaps one of the most dominating games of the 2011 summer season with a 1-0 win over the Martha's Vineyard Sharks. Erickson struck out 14, allowed just three hits and walked only one. The former Holy Cross Crusader, who is a senior at Castleton State, was just named the NEIBA Pitcher of the Year.

Tyler Erickson, a right-handed pitcher from Castleton State College and the Torrington Titans, was named the Futures Collegiate Baseball League’s Pitcher of the Week after tossing what might have been the most dominating outing by any pitcher over the course of the summer next to teammate Conner McMahon’s no-hitter. Erickson tossed 9 shutout innings in which he allowed 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 14. Erickson’s dominant start came in the midst of a tight playoff race between the Titans and the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks, who have some of the best hitters in the league, which makes his outing all the more remarkable. Erickson has been dominant all season long for Torrington. This past week pushed his season line to 4-3, 1.79 ERA, 55.1 IP, 42 SO, 5 BB, and 40 H.

Cole Harrison, an outfielder from UNC-Greensboro and the Torrington Titans, was named the Futures Collegiate Baseball League’s Hitter of the Week after batting .500 with 3 doubles, a homerun, and 3 RBI. Harrison’s outstanding week helped to up his season line to .262, 5 doubles, a homerun, and 16 RBI.
