It's back.

Well, just about if you don't care about practice or scrimmages.

The 2012 football season is slated to begin next week and we'll be here for our third season of coverage. If you thought the local offseason storylines were intriging (Plasky out at Naugatuck, How will Torrington replace Brenden Lytton?, Arkeel Newsome is only a junior?), the season is sure to be one to remember.

Like last season, I will preview each game and give my predicition on it (I was 44-13 last year, but that was tainted by my Torrington-Watertown pick) each Thursday. One different twist is that I'll post each game throughout the day instead of all at once. That'll give you a little time to decipher the game and build up the anger towards my pick. OK, maybe anger is a harsh word, but you get the point.

Also each Sunday I'll be posting my weekly "This Week in Local Football" review, reliving each game, handing out our offensive and defensive awards for the week and looking ahead to the next week.

The goal, as it is every year, is to get out to the field at least once, probably more, to see each team. Litchfield County Sports did last year and expect more of the same again. I will be on hand for the Torrington-Ansonia game in Week 1.

So, pull up a chair, sit back and enjoy the show. It's going to be a good one.
