The Wolcott Tech Girls Volleyball Team continued proving themselves on the court with a victory over the Gilbert School of Winsted.

Setter Logan Bassett had 3 aces, 2 kills, 13 assists, 3 digs; Outside Hitter Chelsea Tokarz had 2 aces, 6 kills, 9 digs; Outside Hitter Jocelyn Jones had 3 aces, 7 kills, 3 digs, 1 block: Middle Hitter Jennifer Hislop had 5 aces, 5 kills, 2 blocks; Outside Hitter Rachel D’Amato had 3 aces, 2 kills, 2 assists, 4 digs; Nicole DuBois had 1 ace, 2 digs; and Libero Alyssa Bard had a 91% passing accuracy. Stepping on the court for an injured Middle Hitter Emily Benson was senior Megan Hislop with a positive attitude.

Gilbert had Allison Battista with 4 digs, 2 kills; Carissa Tuozzo with 3 assists, 2 kills, 2 digs; Brianna Brady 7 assists, 2 kills, 8 digs, 4 aces; Shannon Tuozzo 5 kills, 4 digs, 3 aces; Niki Nash 4 kills, 9 digs and Isabella Panagakos with 5 kills.

The Wolcott Tech coaching staff is very proud of the accomplishments these girls have made as a team. They are committed to becoming a better team after every game and practice. Their hustle and aggressive net play aided their victory tonight. Their practice on transition allowed the setter to run an effective offense. They remain focused to become a competitive volleyball program. Our thoughts go out for a speedy recovery for our middle hitter, Emily Benson.

Wolcott Tech’s record goes to 4-0 and Gilbert goes to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the Berkshire League.

The Wildcats play Kaynor Tech on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 with a 4:00pm jv start, followed by varsity.
