BACK TO SOME SENSE OF NORMAL
TORRINGTON: After a mind numbing past four days, local sports will once again offer a sanctuary of distraction starting Tuesday night.
Naugatuck Valley League Girls: The Torrington girls look to bounce back from a disappointing road loss at Kennedy on Saturday afternoon when they host Crosby at the Connie Donahue Gymnasium.
The Raiders, now 2-1 stay home on Friday as well to play an out of conference game against Avon, a tough NCCC opponent.
Torrington has gotten quality minutes from their starting five so far this season, even if most didn’t enter the campaign with much experience.
Olivia Morrison has been the biggest surprise for head coach Mike Fritch, who had been hoping to see her step up this season.
Fellow soccer standout Paige Middleton has also picked up her game and Fritch has gotten consistent play from Caroline Teti, Nicole Kozlak and Megan Calbrese.
Tim Gaffney will track the action on Tuesday night
Berkshire League Girls: John Torsiello will be in Litchfield to take in the Thomaston/Litchfield contest.
The Golden Bears are thought to be one of three teams (Lewis Mills and Nonnewaug the others) who will fight it out for the top spot in the league this year.
Mills hosts Shepaug while Nonnewaug travels to take on Terryville.
Naugatuck Valley Boys: After a heartbreaking loss on Saturday night to Kennedy on a last second basket, the Torrington boys look to pick up their first win when they head back down Route 8 to tackle Crosby.
The Raiders stay on the road on Thursday as the take on Seymour.
Berkshire League Boys: In key BL games Tuesday, Housatonic plays in Winsted against Northwestern while Shepaug travels to Lewis Mills and Terryville tackles Nonnewaug.
