THS Hall of Fame to induct four in 2024.

TORRINGTON: On Sunday, April 28th, four more members will be added to the prestigious Torrington Hall of Fame.

It’s always a magnificent evening and I suspect tomorrow will be no exception when we honor these four Raiders at Greenwood s Country Club.

Here is a look at their impressive resumes.

Harold Pollick

THS 1950

In his THS yearbook, Harold is described as “A current events authority if there ever was one,” but also, “a great athlete was this senior.” It is for his athletic achievements that he is being inducted into the THS Athletic Hall of Fame.

Harold was a four-year member of the football team where he played left tackle and kicker. In 1948, he received honorable mention All-State honors and his team went undefeated, 8-0.

He also was a four – year member of the THS baseball team, playing four winning seasons.

Harold was offered football scholarships to the University of Tennessee, Fort Union Military Academy, and Stetson University where he attended.

From 1968 to 1970, he was the assistant football coach under THS head coach, Ezio Bonetti.

In Harwinton, he was involved in the Little League program as a coach and umpire from 1962 until 1972. He was a member of Harwinton’s Westside Volunteer Fire Department as a fireman and captain for over 25 years.

Matthew Eucalitto

THS 2001

A member of the boys’ swim team for four years, Matt served as captain in his senior year and attained numerous honors throughout those four years. Those honors include recognition in the NVL and State levels.

Named All-NVL 1st team all four years, he was NVL 1st place champion seven times in the free, fly, IM & relays. His ALL-State honors include 1st place champion in the 500 freestyle at the CT State Open and All-State honors in boys swimming three times.

Matt attended College of the Holy Cross where he was a member of the varsity swim team, Division 1 of the Patriot League, all four years. He qualified and placed all four years in the Patriot League Championships. While attending college, he was an ROTC cadet.

He graduated from Holy Cross with a double major in Economics and Political Science. He was also commissioned into the United States Air Force as an officer.

He received a Master’s Degree from UConn School of Business in Business Administration.

A Captain in the Air Force and four years of active duty, he is presently serving Reserve Duty. He is a Principal at Calito Development Group. He resides in Litchfield with his wife, Erin McKenna, and their three children, Annie, Noah, and Charlie.

Matthew joins the THS Athletic Hall of Fame with his brother, Garrett, mom, Janis LaPorta, and aunt, Diane Shugrue.

Haley Kasenetz

THS 2004

While attending Torrington High School, Haley was a member of Varsity Track for four years, indoor track for one year, the dance team for two years, and the varsity cheerleading team for four years.

On the varsity track level, she holds the school record for the 100 meter hurdles. She was ALL-NVL for the hurdles all four years, All –NVL for the high jump in 2004 and Outstanding Sprinter in the NVL for two years. She placed in the top six at the State’s Class L Championships for hurdles in 2002 and 2004. In the Nutmeg Games, she took first place in the 100m hurdles in 2004. In the State Games of America in St. Louis, she took first place in the 100m hurdles.

In 2003, Haley was an original member of the dance team with the team going undefeated in competitions for two years and placing seventh at the UCA Nationals in Florida.

She attended Southern Connecticut State University and was a four-year member of the cheerleading team. Her team placed first at the Division 2 UCA College Nationals (2009) at Disney World. She worked for the largest cheerleading organization, Universal Cheer Association, (UCA), and travelled throughout the United States teaching at camps/clinics to cheerleading teams.

After college, she worked for TSA (The Spirit Associates) in California as a tumbling coach and at clinics as a teacher/demonstrator. She also judged competitions.

Haley resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband, Gabriel Obertan, and her two daughters, Sienna and Ivy. She joins her dad, Bruce Kasenetz, and her sister, Casey Kasenetz-Hill in the THS Athletic Hall of Fame.

Garrett Eucalitto

THS 1999

As a 4-year member of the THS boys’ varsity swim team, Garrett earned various honors in the NVL, State and National forums. In the NVL, his honors included All-NVL first and second team in his sophomore, junior, and senior years. He placed all four years in the NVL Championships.  All-State honors include qualifying and placement in both the Class L State Swim Championships for three years and the CT State Open Swim Championships for two years. He received the Hartford Courant All-Academic Swim team recognition in his senior year.  That same year, he was awarded Academic All-American Swimmer by the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association.

Garrett attended and graduated from the College of the Holy Cross where he was a member of the boys’ varsity swim team, Division 1, Patriot League for four years. Serving as captain in his senior year, he qualified and placed in the Patriot League Championships for four years. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science in 2003 and a Master of Arts in International Relations from Boston University in 2006.

Garrett currently resides in New Haven and is the Commissioner of the CT Department of Transportation. He joins his brother, Matthew, his mother, Janis LaPorta, and his aunt, Diane Shugrue, in the THS Athletic Hall of Fame.
