TORRINGTON: Lace up those sneakers’ runners.
It’s just two weeks until the 2023 Torrington Kids Marathon kicks off on Sunday, June 4 at 8:30 at the Robert H. Frost complex on the grounds of Torrington High School.
The event kicks off at 8:30 but participants are encouraged to arrive around 8-8:15 a.m. We should be wrapped up on done by 10:30 am.
We look forward to another great year with area youngsters finishing their 26.2-mile journey with the running of The Final Mile.
Some notes for the day.
-With the new high school/middle school project racing upwards in what used to be the parking area for Kids Marathon, we will have volunteers staged at key areas, guiding folks to the new parking lot behind the school.
There is plenty of parking for all!
-Once you arrive at THS, proceed to the Robert H Frost Complex, and look for your respective schools table where volunteers will help each school distribute the custom-made tee shirts runners will wear that day.
-The Concession stand will once again be open. We will be selling water, coffee, and fruit.
The Torrington Cheer team will be running the concession for us, and we thank them.
-If it is a warm morning, be sure to have your child hydrated before the event begins.
We will have water jugs and cups available on the sidelines.
-There will be a trainer, Abby Fisher, on site, and we thank Abby for her dedication to our kids.
-All parents should head to the bleachers after dropping their athlete off to the field. We encourage everyone to support the efforts of everyone involved.
-Frankie Graziano, a THS alumni, will be our Masters of Ceremonies and we thank him for his dedication for years to Kids Marathon. Mr. Graziano can be heard on WNPR, Wednesday mornings from 9-10 a.m. as host of the Wheelhouse.
-This is a rain or shine event. Mother Nature has been good to us so far!
-Please enjoy the day and thank you for caring about the physical and mental well-being of our children!
See you on June 4,
–
